One very obvious thing missing from last year’s Apple iPhone was 3G support. If you wanted high-speed internet access when you weren’t near a WiFi hotspot, then you needed to rely on a GPRS or EDGE connection. Very often subscribers were stuck with dial-up modem speeds on a device that really needed a much faster internet connection.
Apple’s excuse for the lack of 3G was that it drained the

Toshiba aims to release its slider type 3G cellphone known as the 920T, featuring 1GB of integrated memory to store all your data, audio and video files. That is enough memory to record up to 5.3 hours of video, and with 1Seg support, you will be able to catch up with your favorite Japanese serials no matter where you are (just make sure there is enough juice left inside). Other features include a 3.24 megapixel camera and GPS navigation. There is no word on pricing.

Although as of this point the only real confirmation of a second generation, 3G iPhone coming in 2008 is from AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, news today indicates that release date may already be pushed back. The push back, should it be a reality, is seemingly a result of Apple’s desire to keep sales of the iPhone robust during this holiday shopping season - fearing that a looming release of a newer, better iPhone might scare off potential customers.
The next generation iPhone release date may be pushed back anywhere from two to six months. According to statements from Mehdi Hosseini, an analyst from Friedman Billings Ramsey & Company, “recent checks” have indicated that what was believed to be a March or April release for the new, 3G iPhone could now be pushed back as far as late summer.
Does this mean that you should resume your off put plans to buy an iPhone for yourself for Christmas this year? Well, as before, that’s up to you. Chances are there won’t be a second gen iPhone release date that anyone considers concrete until it comes from Apple itself, and that’s certainly not going to come until sometime in 2008. So, if you haven’t gotten your hands on an iPhone and are itching to - go buy one. If you’d rather hedge your bets to avoid buyer’s remorse in 2008, that’s an option as well. Just don’t expect firm answers anytime soon.

We don’t have all the details of the Samsung i560 at present, but we can tell you that this is a 3G slider phone running the Symbian S60 3rd Edition operating system.
The SGH-i560 has 150MB of internal memory, expandable through microSD cards. On the back is a 3 megapixel digital camera, plus a secondary video calling camera. The screen is a 240×320 pixel panel in 262,000 colours.
Unconfirmed reports say that the Samsing i560 also supports HSDPA and GPS, but right at the moment we are still trying to find out the full specification of this device and hope to have more in the next day or two.
On thing is for certain - Samsung haven’t strayed too far from their standard slider design for this. Although it’s a neat looking phone, it will certainly not make anyone go “wow”.
